1957年東京生まれ、大阪育ち。数少ない日本のレジェンド・サーファー。13歳でサーフィンと出会い、以後サーフィン一筋の人生を歩む。ジョージ・ダウンニングを師に、シェーパーとして30年、ビッグウェーバーとして28年のキャリアを積む。2007年には自身が手掛ける「KI SURFBOARDS」のエキシビションを湯島聖堂で開催。2008年、ジョン・ペックとのドキュメンタリー映画「PENETRATORS」が公開。現在はフォトグラファーである美絵夫人と四国に住み、冬はカウアイ島でサーフボードのクリエイションやスタンドアップパドルボードに情熱を注いでいる。

After close to thirty years in the surf scene as a big waver, Kushimoto is still on the go. He learned his shaping skills from George Downing and has been shaping his Ki Boards for his enthusiastic fans all over the world. The Ki brand celebrated its thirty years history at the Yushima Seido, Tokyo in 2007. His first documentary film with Jeff Peck will be on show from the summer 2008.
