1952年高知生まれ。デビルマンの異名を持つ日本のサーフ×スケートカルチャーのパイオニア。60年代にサーフィンを始め、旅したアメリカでドッグタウンのメンバーやミュージシャン達と交遊をするようになり、ハードコアなスケートボーダー、サーファーとして活動する。その傍ら、自らの写真や文章、アートを通じてニュー・ボーンカルチャーを次々と日本に広めている。近年ではスケートボード・ブランド「AZIENT」の企画・プロデュース・ライダーを務め、またフリーマガジン「cyxborg」の制作・編集を手掛けるなど、枠に収まらないボーダレスでワールドワイドな活動を続けている。

A pioneer in SURF x SKATE culture, Nishioka's art expression may have been too edgy 20 years ago to be accepted in Japan and he has been known more overseas until recently. Now, as a leading figure in the subculture scene, he also publishes his own magazine, cyborg here in Japan. His art work is like a puzzle segment on its own carrying both eccentricity and quietness. Jay Adams, his long time friend, named him Devil Dog and that is where the title of this book comes from.
