木本直哉はサーフィン・フォトグラフィ界で傑出した存在として重厚なショットを取り続けてきた。16才でサーフィンを覚え、20才でサーフィンフォトグラファーとして歩み出した。40年間、忘れられないような波を追い続け、写真に残してきたことになる。1980年代はじめからは冬はハワイのノースショアで活躍している。2019年にリリースした写真集、波巡礼ーThe Surf Pilgrim- は、木本直哉の初めての写真集である。

Naoya Kimoto has been a well know figure in the Surfing Photography for a long time.He started surfing at the age of 16 and by the age of 20 he became a surfing photographer. His 40 years of chasing and capturing the unforgettable waves in Japan has been published as his first photograph book, The Surf Pilgrim in 2019.  Since early 1980’s, he is based in North Shore, Hawaii during the winter time.
